MIT Microbiology Program
College description: The MIT Microbiology Graduate PhD Program is an interdepartmental, and interdisciplinary program at MIT.The graduate training program aims to attract and train a talented group of students interested in a range of aspects of microbiology. The program will provide students a broad exposure to underlying elements of modern microbiological research and engineering, and will provide depth in specific areas of microbiology during the student‘s thesis work. Students completing this program will be prepared and able to go into a range of fields in microbial science and engineering. Students with interdisciplinary training in microbiology are in increasing demand in both public and private sectors.
Please Submission of GRE scores are now OPTIONAL. Please have the relevant documents prepared before beginning the application.
For fullest consideration, it is in their best interest to complete ALL parts of the application including applicable data entry fields and attaching required transcript, test score documents, all evaluation letters, and the application fee, by or before the deadline of December 1st. The scanned and attached copies of their transcript, GRE exam , , are considered unofficial, but are sufficient for review purposes. To avoid delay, have all their official test scores transmitted electronically to MIT Admissions before the December 1st deadline.

Because their information needs to be transmitted to multiple databases, if an item is manually input instead of selected from the drop-down menu, and it causes a mismatch, that can prevent the application from being transmitted. Applicant can always provide information specific to their major in their personal statement.
Attaching their transcript is strongly preferred for the completion of their application. If no transcript has been attached, this page must be filled in to complete their application and applicant must follow up with an official transcript sent to the address indicated on the Overview/Help page.
The GRE General Test is OPTIONAL for all applicants. If applicant plan to take the exam, please do so with enough time to have the scores submitted before the December 1st deadline. The GRE Subject Exam is not required but scores may be submitted. MIT Microbiology does not post minimum GRE scores. To avoid delays, have their scores electronically transmitted by the Educational Testing Service to MIT Admissions before the December 1st deadline.

Masters of Arts Degree in Biostatistics
College description: The group awards a Ph.D. degree in Microbiology. Students gain a breadth of understanding of microbiology from the molecular to the cellular levels of organization, as well as the interactions of microbes—beneficial and pathogenic—with other organisms.
Minimum Requirements for Admission for Masters of Arts Degree in Biostatistics at UC Regents:
1. A bachelor’s degree or recognized equivalent from an accredited institution.
2. A grade point average of B or better (3.0).
3. If the applicant comes from a country or political entity (e.g., Quebec) where English is not the official language, adequate proficiency in English to do graduate work, as evidenced by a TOEFL score of at least 90 on the iBT test, 570 on the paper-and-pencil test, or an IELTS Band score of at least 7 on a 9-point scale.
4. Sufficient undergraduate training to do graduate work in the given field.
6. Letters of recommendation.
The GRE general test and the GRE subject test in biology or subject tests in other relevant disciplines are optional. No minimum GRE scores required for consideration.
