Entry-Level Professional Doctor of Occupational Therapy

Interviews are required and offered to the most qualified candidates.

All prospective OTD students, internal or external to Quinnipiac, must apply through the Occupational Therapy Centralized Application System

The deadline for a complete application to OTCAS is February 15. Quinnipiac does not require a supplemental application.

The most competitive applicants will possess a cumulative GPA of 3.25.

A minimum grade of B- or better in all the prerequisites, completed within 8 years of application from a regionally accredited institution.

However, students may submit scores if they believe it can enhance the strength of their application.

Applications are reviewed once all of the required materials have been received. It is their responsibility to ensure that missing documents are received prior to the stated admissions deadline.

At the time of application, prerequisites may be in progress or pending, but must be completed in May before starting the OTD program.

On-campus and online hybrid format combines classroom learning, research assignments, lab work, and Fieldwork teaching formats in a six-semester, 24-month program.

These experiences provide students with hands-on learning opportunities in rural and urban areas throughout the country.

Clinical expectations are reinforced in addition to application of professional documentation for occupational therapy practice in mental health setting.

Classroom and laboratory experiences critically examine principles of neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, neurosensory systems, neurobehaviors, cognition, and motor control approaches and their application to occupational therapy practice.

The course includes a critical application of current evidence relevant to evidence based assessment and intervention strategies for productive aging.

Applicant need to complete the CWRU secondary application and submit their letters of recommendation. Applicant must indicate on the secondary application that applicant are applying to the MSTP.

There are two MD/PhD essays on the AMCAS application. The same questions appear on the secondary application from iApply.

If applicant indicated MD/PhD on the AMCAS application, and answered those questions on the AMCAS application, applicant do not need to answer the same questions on the secondary application from iApply.

All letters of recommendation must be submitted to the AMCAS letters service.

For BME applicants, the university prefer but do not require the GRE. The GRE is optional for students interested in any other graduate program.

Applicant can check on the status of their application any time by logging in to their CWRU iApply account.

The deadlines are November 1 for the AMCAS application and December 15 for the CWRU secondary application.

If applicant indicate on their secondary application that applicant are applying to both the MSTP and the University program.

Most advanced coursework is based on original readings from the literature, so textbooks are not required.

Students continue to take electives based on their research interests as well as courses required by their program.By the end of the 2nd year, students pass a qualifying exam to go on as candidates for the doctoral degree.

Most of the university PhD students are NOT required to teach.
