Master of Science in PA Studies

In addition to the university entrance requirements, the university recommend the following: the GRE, MCAT, or PA-CAT examination; completion of preparatory coursework; at least 500 hours of preparatory experience; three letters of reference; and two application essays.
While the university students have strong records of academic achievement, the Stanford University does not have a minimum GPA requirement, and the university no longer require completion of the GRE, MCAT, or PA-CAT; the university will review all eligible applications regardless of prior coursework, test completion, or test scores.
Applicants with degrees in progress at the time of application may be conditionally accepted into the program but must demonstrate that they are on track to complete their degree.

Completion of the GRE, MCAT, or PA-CAT is not required in order for applications to be eligible for review. The university recommend that applicants complete either the Graduate Record Examinations , the Medical College Admission Test® examination, or the Physician Assistant College Admission Test , but the university will review all eligible applications regardless of standardized test completion.
A minimum of three letters of recommendation is recommended with a maximum of five letters allowed through the CASPA application. Letters of recommendation should speak directly to the applicant's alignment with the mission and goals of the university program. Letters of recommendation should be verified in CASPA by October 1 in order to be considered.
Applicants are invited to submit two essays through the CASPA application.
Medical Scientist Training Program
Applicants to the program must have completed a minimum of 90 credit hours at approved institutions of higher learning. The equivalent of two semesters of research experience is required.
There are no minimum GPA or MCAT requirements. Over the past 5 years, program matriculants have had an average GPA of 3.85 and an average MCAT of 521. Please remember that these are averages: the range for GPA over that period has been 3.1 to 4.0; the MCAT range has been within the sixty-eighth and ninety-ninth percentile.
Publication of work in scientific journals is not required; fewer than 15% of applicants have a publication.
Doing so, will give applicant access to the MD/PhD essay questions that are part of the AMCAS application.
Under the degree objective field on the secondary application, applicant must indicate either "MSTP Only" or "MD or MSTP".
The university expect letters of recommendation from all research mentors with whom applicant have had significant research experiences. These letters should be submitted to the AMCAS letter service. Occasionally, an applicant will have difficulty in obtaining letters of recommendation from all their significant research mentors.
The application period runs nearly six months; waiting until the October 31 deadline significantly diminishes the likelihood of an interview for even the most outstanding applicant.
