Environmental Resource Policy Program

College description: The Environmental Resource Policy Program at GW offers a multidisciplinary approach to environmental and sustainability studies. The Master of Arts program prepares students to enter environmental policy careers in government, non-profit organizations, the private sector, and environmental advocacy groups. ENRP is built on a multidisciplinary curriculum that includes environmental economics, environmental law, public policy, research methods, and a two-semester environmental science course.The MA and Graduate Certificate in Environmental Resource Policy are STEM-designated programs.Late applications may be accepted on a case-by-case basis.In order to satisfactorily complete several of the ENRP core courses, including applied statistics , microeconomics , and environmental science , students must have math skills equivalent to that provided by a college course in algebra, pre-calculus, analytic geometry, or introductory statistics.In an essay of 250 500 words, state their purpose in undertaking graduate study in their chosen field.International students requiring a visa from GW are not eligible to apply for the Certificate program.

Additional requisites may be established at the discretion of the adviser.After completing no than nine semester units of adviser approved coursework and developing an approved study plan, the student must apply for classified standing.ENST 596 Internship in Environmental StudiesThe graduate program adviser will maintain a list of acceptable electives.A three-unit planning course must be included, either from environmental studies electives or cross-disciplinary electives.All Environmental Studies students are required to complete a thesis, project or comprehensive exam. Students may only register for the course once. Since students are required to maintain continuous enrollment, they must register in GRAD 700, either through University Extended Education or CSUF. The university strongly prefer that letters of recommendation come from a current direct supervisor, former direct supervisor, or other individuals with whom applicant have had significant professional interaction. University of California-Berkeley has found the most helpful letters to be recent, relevant, and written specifically for this application. The university discourage letters of recommendation from subordinates, family, or friends.

The following courses will not fulfill this requirement: 1) courses in English as a Second Language, 2) courses conducted in a language other than English, 3) courses that will be completed after the application is submitted, and 4) courses of a non-academic nature.
