College description: This certificate program will enhance a student’s ability to properly evaluate and utilize a wide variety of advanced statistical methods.Biostatistics majors pursuing this certificate will benefit from specialized training that will readily qualify them for employment and or conducting research in the certificate subject areas.Scientists working in areas outside of Biostatistics will obtain a level of quantitative literacy that will greatly improve their abilities to properly identify, evaluate and utilize statistical methods that are relevant to their particular subject matter.
GRE is not required with sufficient mathematical background

Students must pay the SOPHAS fee in addition to the $50 UB application fee.
Effective immediately, the Biostatistics MPH program will not be requiring the submission of GRE scores as part of the admissions process. However, prospective students are encouraged to consider submitting their GRE scores if they think it will strengthen their application.
MS PhD Biostatistics Admissions Criteria
College description: The PhD in Biostatistics is offered by the Epidemiology and Biostatistics. The doctoral degree program in Biostatistics will have an emphasis on the foundations of statistical reasoning and will require its graduates to complete rigorous training in applied probability and statistical analyses.The doctoral program requires approximately four to five years for completion. The first two years of this time are usually devoted to coursework, the comprehensive doctoral examinations, and development of doctoral research.BIOS 696S Biostatistics SeminarMaster degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, or a similar field with GPA of 3.2 or higher.
MS/PhD Biostatistics Admissions requirements:
1.Bachelor's degree with GPA of 3.2.
2.Master's degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, or a similar field with GPA of 3.2 or higher required for PhD applicants.
3.Strong quantitative skills.
4.At least three semesters of college-level calculus through multivariable/vector calculus and one semester of linear algebra.
5.Documented experience with a computer programming language (C/C++, Fortran, Java, Python or equivalent) is strongly recommended.
GRE scores are not required for MS/PhD Biostatistics.
